Brown (202) 544-8170 AMERICAN SHIPBUILDING ASSOCIATION ELECTS PARTNERS ADVISORY COUNCIL (Washington, D.C.) – The American Shipbuilding Association (ASA) announces the election of a Partners Advisory Council (The Council). The Council was elected by the partner companies of ASA in a vote that took place October 1, 2006. The Council members are John DeMaso, President, Sperry Marine, Inc., Charlottesville, VA; Joan Grande, President, Hose-McCann Telephone Co., Deerfield Beach, FL; Steve Kantor, President, L-3 Power & Control Systems Group, New York, NY; Andrew J. Marsh, President, Rolls-Royce Naval Marine, Inc., Walpole, MA and Roger Sexauer, President, DRS Power Systems, Bethesda, MD. The Council was formed to represent the views of ASA partner companies with the Board of Directors. The Council’s duties include promulgating the priorities of ASA’s partner companies, setting policies to strengthen the association, and formulating ways to increase the active participation of the partner companies in the association. The mission of The Council is as follows: The Partner Advisory Council (The Council), comprised of five duly elected members of the American Shipbuilding Association’s Partner Members, will provide advice and council to the Association’s President and Board of Directors on issues of importance to the Partners in maintaining a strong shipbuilding industrial base; recommend issues to be included in the annual agenda and actions to be taken concerning said agenda; recommend actions to improve educational outreach to the public and Congress on the industry, and; improve outreach to current and potential Partners. The American Shipbuilding Association is the national trade association of the shipbuilding industry. ASA members include the nation’s six largest shipyards and more than 70 companies engaged in the manufacture of ship systems and components.
