Converteam, formerly ALSTOM Power Conversion, has been a stand-alone company since November 10, 2005. Converteam is an $860 million leading provider in the power conversion business, and is positioned as a complete systems integrator. The company specializes in customized solutions to convert electrical energy into mechanical performance based on the appropriate technology (drives, controls, motors, and generators). Converteam operates in three core markets (Marine & Offshore, Process Industries, and Oil & Gas). Converteam’s North American operations is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, with offices in Miami, Houston, Houma, Washington DC, and Seattle.

Overview:
Converteam supports shipbuilding efforts in the public and private sectors, and serves military, commercial, and recreational markets. The types of vessels for which Converteam has provided power and propulsion systems include destroyers, cruisers, oil tankers, cargo carriers, and cruise ships. Major contracts currently underway include the high voltage power and propulsion systems on the DDG-1000 Zumwalt class Destroyer and T-AKE Lewis and Clark class combat logistics force ship, both for the U.S. Navy. Recent past endeavors include the auxiliary power and propulsion system for the USS Makin Island (LHD8) Wasp class amphibious assault ship, and the main power and propulsion system for the USCGC Healy (WAGB-20) Polar class heavy icebreaker.
